Office based in Plymouth

The Graduate Design Engineer role would suit a Graduate Engineer with a background in Mechanical and/or Structural Engineering with a strong ability to develop concepts into reality.

The Graduate Design Engineer will be responsible for contributing to the development of products and structures for the civil, rail and energy markets, by providing technical expertise and innovative solutions to complex engineering problems.

The Graduate Design Engineer will be:

  • Conducting research, developing and designing structural and/or mechanical engineering solutions to specified codes i.e. Eurocode, DNV-GL, Norsok
  • Participating in the design process from concept to completion, including creating detailed technical drawings and specifications, performing calculations, and analysing data
  • Ensuring that all engineering designs and products meet safety and quality standards, codes and regulations
  • Providing technical support to other team members and our clients
  • Communicating with clients to discuss project requirements, progress, and technical issues
  • Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to develop and deliver successful engineering projects within established timelines and budgets
  • Contributing to the continuous improvement of engineering processes, tools, and techniques

The ideal Graduate Design Engineer will have:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Structural Engineering or related field
  • Ideally - 1-2 years of work experience in engineering consultancy, design, or related field (management)
  • Proficient in CAD: AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Inventor, NX and CAE software: Ansys, Nastran as well as MathCAD
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with strong attention to detail
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with changing priorities and multiple projects
  • Understanding of industry codes and standards for structural and/or mechanical engineering to aid product development to set industry standards

Applicants will need to pass security clearance to work on highly sensitive client projects.  Therefore you will need to have to Indefinite Leave to Remain status or be a British citizen.
