Facility is based in SW London  

We are looking for a Head of Production who has extensive commercial manufacturing experience and who is passionate about combining materials science, technology and sustainability.

Biophilica are scaling up and collaborating with recognisable brands. The next stage of production requires expertise in R2R production.  They have recently moved into a new facility to house its continuous demo line.

The Head of Production will be responsible for:

  • Assess the current continuous production lines
  • Compare against existing industrial roll to roll lines and recommend the closest options
  • Organise trials with relevant equipment manufacturers
  • Advice on health and safety guidelines
  • Recommend experiments, collate and analyse data

The ideal Head of Production will have:

  • Extensive experience in roll-to-roll production and engineering (15+ years)
  • Experience of manufacturing of polymers, ideally biomaterials (cellulose, films, coated textiles)
  • Experience of various casting methods, mainly die casting is an advantage
  • While the focus is more on engineering, some experience in materials science is advantageous
  • Relevant experience in manufacturing engineering, technology, process engineering, mechanical engineering or similar
  • Knowledge of operational regulations and guidelines

We are seeking an organised, motivated, and solutions-oriented engineering expert who can be hands on and lead on coated textile production. You will need to be comfortable with the rhythms of a science-based start-up.
